Find, restore, or permanently delete an archived task

Use the archive workflow instead of assuming an active board has lost the task.

Open Archived Tasks or the archived view in My Tasks. Archived tasks are soft-deleted: they no longer appear as active board work but can be restored.

Restore the task when it should return to active work. The archive also has a distinct permanent-destroy action, including bulk variants. Permanent destruction is irreversible, so verify the task and project before confirming it.

If you cannot see the archive controls, check project membership and role. Active project roles are required for task mutations.

Diagnostic sequence

First remove filters in My Tasks and confirm the current project. Then open Archived Tasks and search for the task by its visible name or context. If it is present, restore it and verify the board and column after restoration. If it is not present, use Project Activity to understand recent changes and ask an owner or admin to confirm whether someone permanently destroyed it.

Do not use permanent destruction to tidy an active board. Archive first so the team has a recovery path. Before a bulk restore or bulk destroy action, check every selected task because those actions affect more than one item.
