Boards, views, and columns

Shape a project workflow with boards, columns, cards, and bulk actions.

Use boards for distinct workflows

Each project can contain multiple boards. Open a board to view its tasks as a Kanban board or list view. Create additional boards when a project has parallel workflows, rather than forcing every task through one set of columns.

Configure columns

Add, rename, reorder, and remove board columns from the board controls. Columns also have workflow types: planning, progressing, testing, and finish. Move task cards between columns to reflect their current stage.

Keep changes intentional

Owners and admins can manage boards and columns. Active members can work with tasks. Before removing a column, move or resolve the work it contains; changing structure affects everyone who uses that board.

Work at scale

The board supports bulk task actions. Owners and admins can also use bulk task movement when managing a shared workflow. Use filters and the list view when you need to find a set of tasks before acting on it.

Prerequisites and edge cases

Open the project before choosing a board. Owners and admins create, rename, update, or remove boards and columns; active members work with tasks after the structure exists. Guests can view project content but cannot reshape it. Before deleting a column, review and move its tasks—removing a workflow stage is not a substitute for resolving its work.

Keep columns for durable stages, not every exception. Use a task’s due date, priority, dependency, milestone, or checklist for task-specific planning. Add another board only when the project has a separate workflow that would otherwise make one board hard to read.
