Plan milestones and goals

Group project tasks around deadlines and track personal or team goals.

Create a milestone in a project

Open the project milestones page and create a milestone with a name, description, dates, and color where needed. Assign tasks to the milestone individually or through the bulk task workflow.

Keep milestone planning current

Update milestone details when the schedule changes. Use its task membership and completion state to understand progress toward the deadline. Delete a milestone only when the grouping is no longer useful.

Use goals for broader progress

Taskavel also provides a goals area with create, update, completion, and delete actions. Use a goal for a broader outcome, and use milestones for the project-specific set of tasks and dates that move that outcome forward.

Suggested planning sequence

Create a milestone only after the project and relevant board exist. Give it a recognizable name, a description when the outcome needs explanation, and dates when the team has agreed on them. Assign existing tasks one at a time or through the bulk task workflow. Review milestone progress from its task set rather than duplicating task state in a separate document.

Owners, admins, and members can work with milestones; guests remain view-only. Deleting a milestone removes the grouping, so inspect its tasks first and reassign them if they should belong to another deadline. Use a goal when the scope is broader than one project’s delivery schedule.
